Italy: Passionate, romantic, age-old sights, fashion, design, caffè, pasta, dancing under the stars, prosecco, crodino, old grandmothers who serve delicious and especially great treats, Pavarotti, honking nice motorbikes (motorino), nice men with dark sunglasses, beautiful girls with sultry hairs and high heels, these are just a few of those things that come to mind when you think of Italy.
Italy is a wonderful country where it is always nice weather and where life is really good. Every Italian is of course super relaxed, because that's why they stay so young inside and out. In short, a real bon vivant, the Italian.
Many Dutch people go to the warm Italian sun for a week(end) with their hearts beating. We discover the most beautiful picturesque places where we lose our hearts.
The beautiful spot where I (Leontine) want to talk about is Montegridolfo ... located in La Romagna, a region that is not really well known to the average Dutchie. Yes, we know from our younger years Rimini, which is 50 km away. Anyway, in the interior of the beautiful hills lies this ancient borgo, which has been restored to its original state by world famous fashion designer Alberta Feretti. Truly a picture ... with a magnificent view over the hills and the Adriatic coast.
If you wake up in the morning, after you have really delicious Italian breakfast with a delicious cappuccino, you hear the birds whistling, the olive trees gently wave with the morning wind, and you, together with your love, hope that this moment never more will pass.
We want more so we go out ... with heels and dresses in the last Italian fashion ... otherwise we will fall far too much ... big sun glasses never lack in these wonderful warm days!
We decided to do 'mondain' and via via we could rent a wooden cutter for 2 hours, with snacks and drinks, fresh watermelon ... we get on in the little harbor of Cattolica, the last village in La Romagna from the Le Marche region. Wow! what a unique experience, on arrival the hand of the skipper is handed and he lifts us on board. Soon we are on open clear blue sea and we discover the silence and tranquility of this beautiful part of Italy. In the background the Vallugola Bay ... with the sophisticated Italians who lie close to each other sunbathing and mentally prepare for a typical lunch by the sea ...
We therefore also put those glasses back on and lie together in the sun while the first homemade snacks are being unpacked. Davide, the skipper, has such a sweet woman who makes local cold piadine for all his guests. These are a kind of tortillas (do not let the Italians hear it, because then they are very insulted ...) filled with rocket, mozzarella and tomatoes and pure olive oil (the filling may vary) but floating on such a boat tastes real good!
Sticking to this nice feeling ... so we are completely lyrical about a wedding in Italy.
In this way. We can dare to take that big step pretty far away from home, with only a group of friends celebrating our wedding.
Good food, long dining, music there ... yes we actually do. Not such a crazy idea to get married here.
